AFAC
Receives Its Largest Corporate Donation in History from Hecht's
Arlington, Va. – August 10, 2005 -- The Arlington Food Assistance Center has
received a gift of $30,000 from Hecht’s. The
gift represents AFAC's largest corporate donation and Hecht's fourth consecutive
year of supporting AFAC.
"Hecht’s has been very generous to us," said Fred Jones, AFAC Board
Chair. "This gift shows again what a big-hearted company Hecht’s
is. Their caring and compassion toward the less fortunate should truly
be an inspiration to other companies in the region."
"Hecht’s support bolsters our ability to respond when local families turn
to us for the extra help that food from AFAC provides," said Christine
Lucas, AFAC Executive Director. "The high cost of living here forces
many families to struggle to make ends meet, and food from AFAC means that all
Arlington moms and dads can provide their children the nutrition they need.
The Hecht’s gift means that we can continue to provide milk and eggs and more
to every family who comes to us for help”
