Group Volunteer Opportunities
Groups are able to help AFAC with many special projects. See some of our ideas below. Then check with the volunteer office for specific needs and schedules.
Holding a food drive can be a fun team-building project.
Sorting food at special events, like the Letter Carriers Food Drive, is a great group activity. Please email Laura Jackson if your group would like to help at one of these events. AFAC provides Emergency Food Kits (EFKs) to Arlington County to distribute to clients with immediate food needs. Groups can purchase supplies and pack boxes for us at their own location. Some groups have
helped
with leafleting and publicity
for AFAC's major food drives in the
spring and fall. Because AFAC has a small building, we schedule group warehouse projects after normal distribution hours. We can accommodate groups on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons after 1 pm as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The largest group size we can accommodate is 30 people on the weekend and 20 during the week. Occasionally, we schedule small groups (5-8 people) on Wednesday evenings.. All opportunities are dependent on AFAC's current needs. Please complete the Group Volunteer Profile form and return it to the volunteer department by email at puwen.lee@afac.org or by fax at 703-845-8491.
For more information, please contact one of our volunteer coordinators, Puwen Lee or Laura Jackson, at puwen.lee@afac.org or (703-845-8486). |
