Volunteering at AFAC
AFAC depends on the help of hundreds of volunteers. Last year, volunteers donated over 25,000 hours to AFAC - that's $500,000 saved in staffing costs that we can use to feed our Arlington neighbors. See our Current Needs page and the menu bar to the left to see how you can help.
We ask all volunteers to complete an online Volunteer Profile Sheet.
Groups should fill out the online Group Profile Sheet.
Children under the age of 18 need to bring a signed copy of the Minor Hold Harmless form when they volunteer or fax (703) 845-8491 or email it to us in advance.
Current Volunteers can use this link to access our online volunteer calendar to sign up to help or update their schedule. We also have instructions to use the online system.
We are always glad to see Joe at AFAC. He has a wonderful light-hearted and caring spirit that makes him a favorite of staff, fellow volunteers and clients. Please read more about Joe's support. |
Court-ordered Volunteers
AFAC accepts court-ordered volunteers. We only accept volunteers with non-violent and non-larceny offenses. All court-ordered volunteers must interview with Puwen Lee in the Volunteer Department. Contact her at puwen.lee@afac.org or 703-845-8486 to set up an interview. At the interview we will discuss our policies and procedures and set a schedule for you.
If you do not complete an interview, we will not be able to credit you for your time. Please bring your court documentation or a letter from your lawyer and a photo ID to the interview. You should also complete the Volunteer Profile Sheet online, noting the hours of service and completion date.
For more information, please contact our volunteer coordinators, Puwen Lee, Mona Bormet, Laura Jackson, or Danielle Rampton at volunteer4afac@afac.org or 703-845-8486.
