Letter from Ted Leonsis

AFAC's Permanent Home Campaign--donate now!

AFAC will be open on Tuesday, February 9 for food distribution.
Volunteers who can safely get to AFAC are encouraged to come in to help out.

Welcome to the
Arlington Food Assistance Center,
Arlington's food pantry.

At AFAC, we provide supplemental groceries to Arlingtonians who cannot afford to purchase all the food they need.

You might not think that hunger is a problem in Arlington, but the high cost of living here means that many families simply cannot make ends meet. AFAC helps solve this problem by distributing groceries - milk, eggs, bread, canned goods, produce and other foods - to Arlington families and individuals in need.

Supplemental groceries from AFAC mean that families can remain in their homes, workers can stay on the job, children are ready to learn, and mothers and babies get the nutrition they need.

We have grown from being a small food provider with no permanent location to a major food pantry. We now distribute groceries to over 1,000 families each week.

In our Fiscal Year 2009 (7/1/2008 - 6/30/2009) we served an average of 1,038 families each week and distributed 2.2 million pounds of food. Volunteers donated 24,000 hours of time.

We invite you to join us in helping our neighbors in need. Contributions of money, food and volunteer time are always needed. Please read on to find out how you can help.
