Letter from the AFAC Young Professionals Chair
Dear Young Professionals!
Thanks for your interest in AFAC Young Professionals (AFAC-YP) Ages 21-40! We are excited for this year’s fun events and volunteering opportunities and hope that you will get involved.
Even if you only have one hour to spare every once in a while, we invite you to join us for one of our monthly bagging nights, or even come have a drink at one of our quarterly happy hours. We have also introduced this year dog walks and yappy hours, food drives and other opportunities to volunteer at local events. Perhaps you would like to commit to one of our groups, the YP Volunteer or Events Committees. We want you to participate with us in whatever capacity you want and are able to…and have some fun with us along the way!
AFAC Young Professionals is a way to make a real impact on our local community. It can be hard to believe that over 1,300 families (which includes adults and children) in Arlington alone visit AFAC each week to receive supplemental groceries. It’s easy to get distracted by all the development in Arlington with new restaurants, high rises and offices and forget that the high cost of living in Arlington makes it difficult for some families to make ends meet. AFAC offers referred families a solution, so that they do not have to choose between food and medicine or utility bills. AFAC-YP is proud to support this mission.
Please contact us at young.professionals@afac.org with questions and to be added to our distro list. In addition, please “LIKE” us on Facebook, and tell your friends to “LIKE” us as well, to stay up to date on all of our social and volunteer events.
Again, thank you for your interest in AFAC-YP. I look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Carrington Blencowe
Chair, AFAC Young Professionals

St. Mary's Episcopal Church gleaning teams brought back 100's of pounds of fresh produce to AFAC last summer. Your group can make arrangements to go gleaning any Saturday this summer or fall. Fresh corn! cucumbers! collards! A big thank you to St. Mary's!
